“Phoria,” the Greek root, refers to a “state of being.” I have been inspired by this concept most thoroughly through my transition in life as a trans woman. Experiencing gender euphoria, I want what I create to always speak to the fullness of experiencing true being. Throughout these times of deep reflection, I have come to realize how central simply existing is. How powerful it is to just “be.” To take up space. To live. I find the concept to be a simple one, but it is something hard to reach in many ways. It’s elegant in its simplicity and compelling in its concept. Since it is a part of all living things, a state of being, I wanted all aspects of these projects to come back to that. Phosphoria and Vesphoria are morning and evening, beginning and end, life and death. States of being with everything in between.

Phosphoria, brings “Phôs,” or “light bearer,” into the fold. Like the flicker of light through dense forest shadows, Phosphoria embodies the balance between illumination and mystery. Inspired by Phosphoros, the ancient name for Venus as the Morning Star, the name carries the essence of both celestial radiance and the quiet melancholy of dawn. Just as Venus brings in the transition between night and day, my work captures the liminal—where darkness and light, dream and reality, converge.

Through moody forest photography and art steeped in the ethereal. Phosphoria is a reflection of that otherworldly glow. The haunting beauty that lingers just beyond the veil. My approach isn’t just about documenting nature. It’s about channeling its mystery and its folklore. Its whispers of the unknown. I aim to create images that feel like forgotten tales. Haunting, enchanting, and lingering in the mind like a half-remembered dream.

Phosphoria

Vesphoria is a state of dissolution and mystery. Inspired by Hesperos, the Evening Star, and the quiet reverence of dusk, the name embodies both the beauty of transition and the inevitability of decay. Just as twilight ushers in the night, my work captures the haunting interplay of what lies beyond and where endings give birth to something eternal. Through combining original photography and digital art, Vesphoria is a tribute to the delicate interplay of moments merging and changing. That fleeting glow that lingers at the edge of darkness. A reflection of both the fading and the forever.

Death is not an end but a transformation. An unraveling of one existence into another. Vesphoria is born from the obsession and acceptance with death. My work explores the mysteries of mortality, the symbols of the occult, and the quiet beauty found in decay. A reverence and homage to the evening.
